MedEdPORTAL Call for Submissions: Self-Directed Learning
MedEdPORTAL is an open-access journal of teaching and learning resources in the health professions published by the Association of American Medical Colleges. MedEdPORTAL actively encourages educators across the health professions to submit generalizable educational materials for physician or dental medicine with a focus on self-directed learning.
The rapid advancement of medical knowledge and accessibility to information have created new opportunities and challenges for physicians and those educating physicians. This evolving health care environment requires physicians adept at continuously identifying, assessing, interpreting and applying new information. Developing critical skills to identify gaps in knowledge, appropriately appraise resources and communicate relevant information are fundamental to successful delivery of high quality, safe patient care. Academic medicine is paving the way for the next generation of physicians that are self-directed, lifelong, master adaptive learners.
MedEdPORTAL invites authors, owners and contributors of materials aimed at fostering self-directed learning to submit their works for publication consideration. Potential materials include, but are not limited to, the following educational approaches:
- Curricular Case Materials for Students
- Student Academic Support Resources
- Professional Development Materials
MedEdPORTAL publications are stand-alone, complete teaching or learning modules that have been implemented and evaluated with medical or dental trainees or practitioners. Each submission is reviewed by editorial staff and external peer reviewers using a standardized review instrument grounded in the tenets of educational scholarship.
For full submission guidelines to MedEdPORTAL, please visit www.mededportal.org/authors.
All submissions in these topics that successfully pass the peer review process will be published in MedEdPORTAL and searchable via PubMed and MEDLINE.
